Australia’s First Adventure-Romance

“TYPHOON TREASURE” HAS PICTORIAL CHARM (State: Screening Tuesday next.) ‘•Typhoon Treasure” can aptly be described as Australia’s first adventure-romance. It is dedicated to the most powerful, noblest elemental force in mankind —the spirit of adventure. Much of the action takes place under water; on the bed of a coral reef, with its queer formation and exotic-looking fish; and round the crocodile-infested rivers of northern Queensland. Leading features roles in “Typhoon Treasure” are taken by Campbell Copelin, well-known on the Australian stage, Gwen Munro and Joe Valli, all of whom have already successfully appeared in other Australian productions The supporting cast is headed by such capable artists as Kenneth Brampton, Douglas Herald and Norman French,

while Utan Torres Straits islander who | takes the leading native role, is being ] hailed as a definite screen find and will \ doubtless be seen in many more Aus- l tralian pictures. The film was written and directed by | Noel Monkman, an Australian who has j already won wide recognition in connec- i lion with his nature films of the Great ] Barrier Reef. Well-known to the direc- 1 tor, therefore, was the Queensland loca- i lion in which the entire shooting of the | production was carried out, and it is j anticipated that pictorially at least, 1 “Typhoon Treasure” should surpass ' any other Australian-made film. ‘j
