Scattered Rains in Western Districts Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. A very deep depression crossed the Dominion last night and is being followed by a disturbance of the westerly type from the south Tasman. Winds: Between north-west and south-west, mainly light to fresh in force north of Taranaki and Hawke’s Bay but moderate to strong thence southwards and rising to gale force in exposed positions. Seas (NS. waters): Rough south of Cape Egmout aud about Cook and Foveaux Straits, moderate to rather rough north of Cape Egmont, elsewhere slight to moderate but with a decreasing southerly swell south of East Cape. Eastern Tasman: Winds between north-west and south-west light to fresh in the northern portion with moderate seas, but strong to gale force iu tee southern portion with very rough seas. Weather: Scattered rains probable in western districts more especially of the South Island and in the far south, but otherwise mainly fair to fine, with mild temperatures. YESTERDAY’S WEATHER Auckland: Rain, light wind. Hamilton: Cloudy, moderate wind. New Plymouth: Overcast, light wind. Gisborne: Sunshine, light wind. Napier: Sunshine, light wind. Palmerston North: Cloudy, moderate Wind. Afasterton; Sun and cloud, moderate wind. Wellington: Sun and cloud, light wind. Blenheim: Sunshine, moderate wind. Nelson: Sun and cloud, moderate wind. West Coast: Sun and cloud, moderate wind. Christchurch: Sunshine, light wind. Timaru: Sun and cloud, calm. Dunedin: Sun and cloud, calm. Invercargill: Sun and cloud, wind of gale force.
