Broken Hill Mine to Close

ORE WORTH £160,000,000 United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. SYDNEY, Feb. 18. Mr. W. N. Cranz, manager of the Broken Hill Proprietary Mine, announced that operations at the mine would cease on March 4. The decision to close tho mine was a result of tho workable ore being exhausted. Since work began at the mine in 1884, about 12,300,000 tons of ore has been mined, and the aggregate value of the mineral extracted is about £160,000,000.
