U.S. Flag Set on Fire
INCIDENT ABOARD MARIPOSA United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. HONOLULU, Feb. 16. A formal protest was lodged with the United States Government to-day oy the officers and crew of the Mariposa who revealed that a round-trip passenger, Mr. G. Annesley, at a shipboard function last night, deliberately set fire to an American flag. The crew protested to the captain, and thereupon Mr. Annesley was confined to his stateroom. The Australian and New Zealand passengers apologised to the captain while Mr. Annesley to-day him&rfl* apologised to the captain. Mr. Annesley is of Irish extraction, resides in London, and his occupa•io.. w on as “landowner”.
