West End School

ANNUAL PICNIC HELD AT . ESPLANADE West End School held its annual picnic yesterday at the Esplanade. With sunny weather, there was an excellent attendance, and the day was happily spent in sports, games and other diversions. The children were well catered for and it was with regret that they saw the activities brought to a close. The sports programme was in the hands of the headmaster (Mr. H. W. Jackson) and staff, with Mr. K. B. Dawkins as organiser. The officials were Starters, Miss M. R. Bird and Mr. A. J. Rawstorne; judges, Miss L. M. Lyall and Messrs. S. C. Rosser and K. B. Dawkins; recorders, Miss L. Waters and Mr. B. Turnbull; primer stewards, Misses R. C. Daldy, M. McMahon and E. J. Nicderer; prizes, Mr. H. W. JackIce creams, drinks, etc., were dispensed by Mesdames G. Tremaine and F. Sievcrt, of the ladies committee. The school championship will be announced next week on the completion of the boys’ high and long jumps.
