Many old residents of Palmerston North, particularly those engaged in the teaching profession, will regret to learn of the death in Brussels, Belgium, on Thursday, of Mies Jessie Knapp, who was at one time a member of the staff of the former Campbell Street School. A very capable member of the profession, Miss Knapp subsequently taught at the Wanganui Girls’ College and the Gisborne High School, retiring in 1923. At each place she was most popular with her pupils and was held in the highest regard. After her retirement Miss Knapp went abroad, making her headquarters in England, and travelled extensively in Europe. A member of a well-known Nelson family, she was a sister of Mrs. E. Bary, of Palmerston North, who will have the sympathy of her friends in her bereavement.
