Miss Jean Short, of Palmerston North; is on a visit to her brothers in Levin.

Mrs. W. F. Daldy, of Albert Street, has left to spend a short holiday in Auckland.

Miss Joan Pearson, of Feilding, is spending a brief holiday with relatives in Masterton.

Among those on holiday across the Tasman, are Mr and Mrs K. C. Clayton, of College Street.

Mrs D. T. Fleming, widow of Hon. D. T. Fleming, of Balclutha, is visiting Palmerston North.

Holidaying at Westshore, Napier, aro Mr and Mrs Iv. McDowell, of Ako Ake Avenue and their two children. I Mrs C. W. Melville, Palmerston North, is staying with her sister, Miss Olive Burnett, Mt. Stuart, Otago. Miss Suzette Allen, New Plymouth, i 9 visiting Palmerston North before proceeding to Wellington. After an extended holiday with her parents, Mr and Mrs W. H. Nelson, * * Laureston, ’ ’ Woodvillo, Miss Patrica Nelson has returned to Sydney. Mrs Nelson accompanied her daughter to Wellington.

Many old residents of Palmerston North, particularly those engaged in the teaching profession, will regret to learn of the death in Brussels, Belgium, on Thursday, of Mies Jessie Knapp, who was at one time a member of the staff of the former Campbell Street School. A very capable member of the profession, Miss Knapp subsequently taught at the Wanganui Girls’ College and the Gisborne High School, retiring in 1923. At each place she was most popular with her pupils and was held in the highest regard. After her retirement Miss Knapp went abroad, making her headquarters in England, and travelled extensively in Europe. A member of a well-known Nelson family, she was a sister of Mrs. E. Bary, of Palmerston North, who will have the sympathy of her friends in her bereavement.
