Fall of Earth Near Cromwell NO WITNESS TO TRAGEDY Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Last Night. ! A fall of earth m an excavation about 11 miles north of Cromwell resulted in the death this morning of two men who were employed preparing a site for an elevator. The victims were Alexander O’Rourke, aged 00 years, labourer, of llawea Flat, and Dougald Robertson, aged 22 years, single, labourer, of llawea Flat. * The men who were employed by Mr. W. Smith, contractor, of Pembroke, were engage! in constructing a gravel elevator at a claim owned by Mr Smith. The owner visited the .lain at about 11 o’clock and found that the bank above Ihe site of the elevat *is«{ caved in.
