Popular Young Lady
PARTIES TOR MISS E. CHA TWIN Miss Eunice Chatwin’s marriage i* Mr. Les Truscott on Easter Monday has been responsible for numerous parties in honour of this popular young lady. A pantry tea was given recently at the residence of Mrs. M. A. Robertson by Mesdames Robertson and W. L. Tattle, when some 50 ladies were present. A delicious savoury tea was served by the hostesses and items were rendered by Mrs. Mclnnes (pianoforte solo), Misses Junker and Chatwin (vocal), and Miss Enid Taylor (elocutionary). A word-building competition was won by Mrs. W. H. Purdie. The opening of the parcels was a most interesting event and Miss Chatwin was delighted with the fine array of appropriate gifts therein. On Tuesday afternoon Mrs. W. D. Taylor’s residence, Mangatainoka, was the scene of a gift afternoon, when Miss Chatwin’s friends assembled in force for a gift afternoon organised by Mesdames W. D. Taylor, Eric Scandrett and Simon Purvis. On arrival the guests were welcomed in the drawing room at "Mironui” after which they enjoyed a stroll around the beautiful garden. A most delicious afternoon tea was served in the drawing room where Miss Chatwin had a very busy time opening a large and varied assortment of parcels, each containing something for her home. Miss Chatwin made a charming little speech in acknowledgement of the expresssions of goodwill. An interesting story competition embodying different makes of motorcars was won by Miss D. Chatwin, of Wellington.
