Mr. N. J. McKay paid warm tribute to the service given by both Mr. and Mrs. Patterson. The death is reported from Auckland of Captain Hamuel Jones, formerly well-known in the coastal shipping trade between Nupier and Auckland. Employed for a great number of years by Messrs. Richardson and Company, Limited, of Napier, he had latterly been living in retirement in Auckland. Captain Jones, who was predeceased by his wife, was master of the coastal vessel Mako, which traded for many years bctiveen Napier, Auckland and intermediate ports. When the Pukeko was built in 3927 to replace tho Mako he took charge of tho new vessel, the Mako being laid-up at Auckland. A brother cf Captain Jones is Mr. David Jones, who is an engineer in the Richardson vessel Tu Atu.
