Changeable and Perhaps Squally Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The series of westerly depressions continues to cross the South Island, but an extensive anti-cyclone covers Australia and pressure has commenced to rise over the western Tasman Sea. Winds: North-westerly to westerly moderate to strong generally and still of gale force at times in the Cook Strait area, backing later to southwesterly in the southern half of the South Island, and southerlies becoming fairly general after from 24 to 36 hours. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough about Cook Strait and rather rougti to rough generally south of Kawhia and in Foveaux Strait; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Westerly winds later backing to south-westerlies, moderate in the northern portion with moderate seas but strong and squally with rough seas in the southern portiofi. Weather: Alainly fair over the northern half of the North Island; elsewhere changeable and at times squally, intermittent rain in western districts from Taranaki southwards and scattered showers also in eastern areas. Temperatures becoming cooler tomorrow, especially in the South Island.
