SUB-STATION. At 3.33 p.m. on Monday the pot-head on the 11 k.v. cable of the main transformer at the Public Works Department electrical sub-station at Rua Roa blew up, with the result that current was. cut off from the whole of the Daunevirke Electric Power Board’s area for about three hours. A temporary line had to be erected at all speed, and six men of the Dannevirke Power Board were requisitioned to assist the substation staff. Within three hours the 10 men had completed the task, power being restored about 6.30 p.m. For several weeks past the engineers at the substation had suspected that the pot-head in question was not iu firstclass order, and apparatus to replace it had been ordered. Unfortunately the pot-head gave way before replacements arrived. The temporary line erected yesterday will carry the power indefinitely, and no further fault should occur. The interruption of power, which happened at an inconvenient time, was the most serious for some years. There have been interruptions before but the majority were of a minor nature, affecting only a part of the area and lasting but a short time. EVENING SPORTS AT DOMAIN.
