MEAN TIME OF HIGH WATER AT MANAWATU HEADS JANUARY, 1937.
Some indication of the pressure under which the staff of the Levin Post Office were called upon to work during the Christmas rush period is given by the fact that from Monday, December 21st., until Saturday, December 26th., no less than 158 bags of mail and 12 hampers were received, and 153 bag? and 54 hampers despatched. The tele grams which were despatched during ihose six days totalled 994 messages, of which 760 were special greetings telegrams, while 1252 messages were received and delivered, this number including 958 of greetings. These figures each represent a substantial increase upon the business for the Christmas period of last year.
