Next Monday the final judging of the Calf Club competition will be held at tho District High School, when the successful competitor will bo selected from approximately 70 entries.

Friday will be parents’ day at tho District High School and parents and friends will have the opportunity of. inspecting the school and viewing the children at work. On the same day the infant classes and Std. 1 will hold their Christmas tree.

At last night’s meeting of the Pahiatua Borough Council in the treasurer’s report was given a comparative statement as follows: General receipts, to 30/11/1936, £3734 16s 6d; to 30/11/35, £3057 8s 2d; general expenditure, to 30/11/36, £4365 8s 4d; to 30/11/35, £3751 3s Id; credit balances, to 30/11/36, £692 5s 4d; to 30/11/35, £385 15s Id.

Mr. John L. Adams has entered into an agreement as custodian of the Pahiatua municipal swimming baths at £2 per week and commenced duties as from Saturday, November 21.

The consulting, engineer, Mr. Sladden, (following a letter from the Public Works Office, classifying the No. 15 Main Highway Borough Section, i.e. the main street of Pahiatua, as a State highway) has been advised to take the necessary stops so that resoaling work on tho highway may be proceeded with providing that the whole of the maintenance and construction costs are to be borne by the main highways account as expenditure on a State highway.
