Private Hotel Industry
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 20. Iloluing that it would be impracticable to carry on the private hotel industry efficiently if the hours of work were reduced to forty per week, the Arbitration Court in a memorandum to-day intimated to the parties that in the award to be made the weekly hours be fixed at 44. In a dissenting opinion, Mr. Monteith said: “The work done is exactly the same as in licensed hotels, to which the Court has granted the 40-hour week. Both sets of workers havo had the same conditions for well over 20 years.”
