300 Killed When Dam Bursts
SIX VILLAGES OVERWHELMED BY ONRUSHING WATER. United Press Association—;By Electric • - ;•? Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Saturday, 1.36 a.m. TOKIO, Nov. 20. At least 300 were killed when the banks of a reservoir above the Osarusawa copper mine at Akita collapsed and many miners’ houses were washed away. Th 9 dam which is 700 feet long and 200 feet, high, hurst owing to heavy rain and overwhelms six villages containing 1300 inhabitants, who were swept amid the debris of the houses into the Dishirogawa river, whence 250 bodies have been recovered.
