RECORDS ESTABLISHED AT BERLIN The eleventh Olympic Games, which have now concluded at Berlin, have produced an almost entirely new set of athletic records. The following is a table of old and new figures:—

Woodruff). 1500 metres: New Zealand (J. E. Lovelock). 5000 metres: Finland (I-loeckert). 10,000 metres: Finland (Ilmari Salminen). 3000 metres steeplechase: Finland (Iso Hollo). 110 metres hurdles: United States (F. Towns). 400 metres hurdles: United States (Glen Hardin). High Jump: United States (Cornelius Johnston). Long jump: United States (Jesse Owens). Putting the shot: Germany (Hans Woelike). Throwing the hammer: Germany (Hein). Throwing the discus: United States (K. Carpenter). Throwing the javelin: Germany (G. Stoeck). 400 metres relay: United States. 1600, metres relay: Great Britain. Women’s 100 metres: United States (Helen Stephens).
