Two Title-holders

McCREADY AND FORSGREN CLASH TO-MORROW NIGHT.

The fact that two holders of titles, the one having won the right to be termed the British Empire champion, and the other champion of Canada, are booked to meet at the Opera House to-morrow night, is sufficient in itself to indicate the merits of the two principals. It would consequently be indeed surprising to find the Opera House capable of holding the large crowd which is desirous of being present. Earl McCready has appeared here previously this season when the beautiful smoothness of his work and his very apparent knowledge of the scientific side of the gamo gained for him the iirm approval of the audience. Eorsgren, on the other hand, is one of the “bad boys” of the ring and patrons are anticipating that ins tactics will necessitate the Empire champion giving of his very best. When tho pair met in their British Enrpire title match, i’orsgren secured a fall from his fellowcountryman with his deadly Boston crab —a hold wffiich has brought him many victories in the past. However, like the champion, he has a full repertoire of holds, some within bounds and others which are apt to be considered outside the laws of tho sport, but all go to make him a dashing and spectacular matman. Incidentally, the occasion will mark Eorsgren’s first appearance before local enthusiasts, but tho Palmerston North Association has at last been able to secure his presence so that their Empire title match can bo xe-wrestled. On that occasion Earl McCready emerged the winner after a great battle for supremacy, but the present holder of the Canadian title is quietly confident that he can reverse the decision. McCready readily admits that his fel-low-countryman is a very hard man to beat, but he, in turn, is not pessimistic as to the outcome. To-morrow night will show which is right. In the recent matches some of the most prominent amateurs from this end of the island and, indeed, further afield, have been brought together in opposition to tho cream of tho local talent. That the standard of their work is making rapid improvement has been strikingly demonstrated by some of the amateurs and the officials promise still better tests. In every respect the programme set down for to-morrow night promises to even outdo its predecessors, so a great night’s entertainment awaits patrons.
