IRISH SWEEP STORY SEQUEL ALLEGED WINNER IN COURT Per Fress Association. DUNEDIN, Aug. 11. Ernest Arthur Tremere Johnstone, aged 22, whose name resounded through New Zealand recently as the winner of £30,000 in an Irish weep, which was subsequently shown to be unsubstantiated, appeared in the Folico Court this morning charged with being idle and disorderly, having insufficient lawful means of support. Senior-Sergeant Packer asked for a remand, stating that inquiry was necessary as to matters of breaking and entering, a.nd other alleged offences. The accused, it wa3 stated, had been at a loose end since the Sweep announcement. He had only one penny when arrested. Senior-Sergeant Packer added: “Johnstone has been in Timaru lately. There are certain inquiries to be made there. I am not altogether sure that he is mentally sound.” A remand was granted.
