SUCCESSFUL EFFORT BY Y.M.C.A. Very satisfactory results attended the canvass for funds made by the Palmerston North branch of the Y.M.C.A. on Saturday, a sum of £B2 being in hand with still more to come in from tho sale of badges. It is anticipated the final figures' will be ahead of last year’s effort. The following ladies, under the chairmanship of Mrs. W. M. Webster, assisted in tho collection:—Mesdamcs A. E. MansfOrd (tho Mayoress), N. 0. Young, IC G. Chamberlain, W. Whitehouse, J Smillic, junr., W. E. Winks, Misses J. Barnett, P. Fuller, G. Whitehead, F. Bailey, B. Bailey, G. Whitaker, J. Stagpoole, V. Blackbourn, G. Hands, J. Cameron, D. Young, L. Allsop, B. Royal, Z. Wood, G. Wattercus, P. Cadogan, Iv. Snelling, M. Tims and 11. Rillens.
Mr. E. C. Donald organised the men’s collecting committee, which comprised Messrs D. Glendinning, 11. Mullaney, J. C. Young, F. Jowett, L. G. Plimmcr, G. C. Petersen, T. E. Hodder, W. E. Brown, P. Nielsen, H. Cunningham, ,T. Dick, P. Rcnwiek, D. Langley, G. Hancox, W. B. Cameron and Mills. Messrs J. E. Mckonzie, Woolworths, G. Watchorn, P.D.C., Collinson and Cunninghame, Ltd., and tilio C. M. Eoss Co. granted the opportunity for members of their staffs to assist in the collection.
The general organisation was in the hands of Mr. C. Woods, who was kept busy throughout tho day.
