Warrant for Baronet
FAILURE TO ANSWER A SUMMONS ALLEGED A warrant for failing to answer a summons was granted at Birmingham against Sir Charles George Lampson, the explorer baronet. Mr D. W. Rigby, solicitor for Mr William Haynes Hill, of Trafalgar road, Moseley, Birmingham, alleged that Sir Curtis had borrowed money from Mr Hill without revealing that ho was an undischarged bankrupt. Mr Rigby said Sir Curtis told Hill he was in financial difficulties and borrowed £73, giving a post-dated cheque as security. Later Hill received a telegram asking him not to present tho cheque, and when he saw Sir Curtis a few days afterwards ho was told that expected funds had not materialised, but that the money would be paid. . Hill hoped to be ablo to secure supplies of cigarettes for his “cut price” business through Sir Curtis’s influence. He made Sir Curtis manager of a London business, and was then told that Sir Curtis was an undischarged bankrupt, having been'adjudicated in June, 1933. The Metropolitan police had tried t 4 serve the summons, but Sir Curtis had so many addresses and his solicitor refused to disclose his whereabouts.
