Crime costs America £2,800,000,000 a year The prison population has increased, more than 100 per cent, iu ten years, 1924-34. These arc iigures submitted by Mr William B. "From 1910 to 1924 the prison population increased from 70,000 to 79,000,” he says.. ‘‘ln 1934 prison inmates iad increased to 158,000, and at present the number stands at. approximately 160,000.
