AUSTRALIAN STOCK PRICES Reports of the June 1 stock sales in Australia make interesting reading. At Dalby, a Queensland country sale, 7000 sheep were yarded. Except for one lot of 1000 recently-shorn fullmouth wethers, the condition of the sheep was only fair. The top price for a big line was Its Gd for 1000 wethers, from the Jinibour district, shorn in April, in good to fat condition. A line of 2000 wethers, 4,5, and 6-year-olds, from the Oakcy district, recently shorn, sold at 7s. Top price of the sale was 12s Sd for a small line of woolly full-mouth wethers. At Warwick McDougall and Co. held a sheep sale, when they penned 120 head. These were practically all-aged ewes just shorn, and were trucked in from Texas, the tops being good trade mutton, and running down to good stores. The ewes sold up to 10s 3d, averaging 7s Od per head. One woolly crossbred lamb sold at 20s Gd. The King and Co-operation
Our new King, Edward VIII, is a firm believer in co-operation. Wbeu he acquired his ranch in Western Canada he became a member of the Alberta Wheat Pool, and signed tho five years' contract of that organisation for disposal of his marketable production of wheat through its co-opera-tive channel. At various times his public speeches as Prince of .Wales proved that he has a competent understanding of the ethical ideals of cooperation, In those days at an English show he identified himself as a farmer among farmers, and urged the necessity for co-operative organisation among themselves in order to grade and market their products effectively so as to win the good will and sustained support of consumers.
