Round Table Club

A meeting of the Bound Table Club was held on Monday evening, there being a good attendance of members and visitors. Miss C. Fitzgerald presided. Mr Billens gave an interesting resume of the recent legislation of the New Zealand Government. “Travel Music” was the subject of a lecture delivered to a most appreciative audience by Miss Mona Dean, Miss Dean dealt also

with the value of music as an outlet for self-expression. In the Latin races,

music was regarded more as a part of the people’s lives, and loved for its own sake than was the case in England. Folk music was a nation expressed in its music. Miss Dean made interesting references to instances of this which she had seen in her travels abroad, and also to four world-famous teachers under whom she had studied. A vote of thanks to the speaker was moved by Miss F. Ross. Supper and a social hour terminated the meeting.
