French Strike Terminates

Huge Crowds Celebrate

FRANCE’S NEW NATIONAL FLAGUnited Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copyrigh t. LONDON, Juno 14. The “Daily Mail’s” Paris’ correspondent says that marking the termination of the majority of strikers hundreds cf thousands of employees, who arc resuming tomorrow, marched in orderly files from the workshops. Bodies of men afterwards returned to many factories and spent hours removing revolutionary mural drawings and notices. Tlie “Guardian’s” Paris’ correspondent says that while racegoers, representing half Paris, went to Chantilly to see the French Derby, the other half spont the afternoon at a “Victory Festival” organised by the Communist party at the Velodrome Buffalo, a vast open air stadium in the working class suburb of Montrouge. Everything was well organised. There were flags and banners on a colossal scale.

One hundred thousand persons crowded the grandstands and one hundred thousand stood in the sunny arena, which was bisected by a raised gangway leading to the speakers’ forum. The tri-colours, alternated with red flags ar.d banners incribed, “Free, strong and happy France,” * floated at each end of the stadium.

Every one wore red emblems and a huge picture of the late Henri Barboussa adorned the spoakers’ platform. A band played revolutionary tunes, while squads of victorious strikers bearing banners displaying a hammer and sickle and badges paraded the gangway. As the crowds cheered great flags were broken from their flag-poles in the middle of the arena these were the examples of the newly devised National flag of Soviet-France, namely a red field quartered with the tricolour and the Communist hammer and sickle between the golden letters “R.F.” on the flag. Miners’ Demands Rejected ANNOUNCE GENERAL STRIKE. BRUSSELS, June 14. -After a fruitless conference at which L.c coal owners rejected the miners’ demands for a ten per cent, increase, the miners have announced a general strike to begin on June 15th. Spanish Disturbances Continue THREE DEATHS ON SUNDAY. Received Monday, 0.20 p.m. MADRID, Juuc 15. Three persons arc known to be dead and two seriously injured as the result of disturbances in Spain on Sunday, as well as extensive damage to a railway crossing at Langrco, Oviedo, by a bomb. The civil guard at L'arzcl, near Jaeu, reported one killed and many injured iu a clash between Fascists and Marxists. One was killed and many injured in fighting between Santander Fascists and Communists.

fcjenor Miguel Alcazar, director of the magazine Espana and a member of the Right Traditionalist Party, was shot and gravely wounded when entering his house. It is reported that at Carraseosa a guard shot and killed a youth after a heated political discussion.
