Lure of Tahiti
NOW A HONEYMOON RESORT SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 12. Mrs F. Crane Robinson, heiress of the Crane household fixtures fortune of Chicago, and heroine of a battle to save the life. of her husband, , William A. Robinson, who was stricken with acute appendicitis two years ago in the small yacht Svaap, exploring off the Galapagos Islands, returned to San Francisco after a sojourn in sunny Tahiti. Mrs Robinson, who alone in the sman boat desperately battled against the elements while her husband lay near death for five days during stormy weather until a seaplane from the San Diego Naval Rase arrived with two physicians, declared upon reaching San Francisco that the year spent in Tahiti has resulted in the complete recovery of her husband.
A noted explorer and accomplished writer, Mr Robinson remained in Tahiti completing research for a new book on the South Seas. He will rejoin his wife shortly in Chicago, where they plan to stay only a brief while before returning to their estate at Tahiti, following the example of numerous -wealthy. Kathlyn Lee, a prominent member of the aristocratic Anglo-American suburb of Safi Francisco at Burlingame, upon arrival from the South Seas, stated that she had originally planned to visit New Zealand and Australia, and even bought her steamship ticket which would have taken her to the “land down under,’ ’ but, liko all ladies, she changed her mind. She intimated that having travelled to Tahiti she fell desperately in lovo with the beauties of the mid-ocean, islands, and becoming *so enraptured with tho atmosphere, she left the ship at Papeete, and cancelled tho rest of her trip.-, She plans another trip, and may continue on to New Zealand to explore further tho attractions of tho South Seas.
Tahiti as a honeymoon resort was the reason Mr and Mrs K. E. Kather advanced when they disembarked at San Francisco from the Makura, after spending a most enjoyable month in Tahiti and the South Seas. Mrs Kather is tho former wife of Thco. E. Straus, adviser to President Roosevelt’s Cabinet Minister, Secretary Harold Iskes. She obtained her divorce recently in America’s divorce capita? at Reno, and almost immediately married Mr Kather, who is a well-known X-ray specialist.
