Red Cross Plane Bombed
INCIDENTS IN ABYSSINIAN CAMPAIGN LONDON, Mar. 17. The Times’ correspondent at Dessio states that an Italian bombing aeropiaue destroyed at Quorarn, but not irreparably, tho Fokkcr aeroplane ■which the Emperor Haile Selassie presented to tho Abyssinian Led Cross and which is usually piloted by tho Swedish pilot, Baron Von Lessen. - The Fokkcr was plainly marked by e, red cross on both wiugs, and was stauding unconcealed on tho plain. The Italian machine descended within six hundred feet, using a machine-gun and bombs. The officer in charge of the lied Cross unit (Dr. Juno) reported the occurrence to Geneva, pi'nting out that the Fokker was not connected with military services. Italians’ Position in Grave Danger ADDIS ABABA, Mar. 17. Consistent though uncomfirmcd reports support tho belief that the Italians are in grave danger of being cut off at Amba Alaji. Haile Selassie is reportedly in personal command of the defenders. An intense, aerial bombardment sweeping the entire southern front is believed tr be the prelude to a fresh Italian offensive by General Graziani. The Italians hope to prevent the Abyssinians reassembling their forces on the extreme left, namely, in the Negelli sector, where Ras Desta was defeated. Allegiance to Emperor ADDIS ABABA, Mar. 17. Five thousand Gallas of the Azcbo •tribe, whom the Italians supplied with' arms and money to enable them to revolt, brought the money nnd arms to tTio Emperor to whom they swore allegiance.
