St. Patrick's Ball
SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. Although Tuesday evening’s broadcast programmes throughout the Dominion were, in tli o main, composed of delightfully suitable Irish music and witty, dialogue-fitting the celebration of flic Fff.st Dav'Pf Ireland’s patron'saint, the - ball in the'Foresters’ hall was well attended and was in itself a suitable conclusion-to-the day dear to the heart of every Irishman. An orchestra from'Palmerston North supplied tho music‘and intermittently struck up some guy Irish tune. TJv>..,Kork .of looking after tho. dancers was in the hands of Mr. IV. Butherford, who made a capable M.C. " The - hall - was tastefully decorated with multi-coloured streamers and a feature of the decorative scheme was the largo green and ogld “Harp of Erin” to the rear of the orchestral staUsV'W/T. M.' Wa'lsli and Mr. T. Murphy,, the joint secretaries, worked Very hard and praise is, due them for the programme arranged. An excellent sit-down supper was provided by the following ladies’ committee: Mesdames ,T. A. "Walsh, M. Murphy, ,T. ' Barnett, C. Newman, H. Vile, W. Rutherford, T. O’Brien and P. Moynahan. ' - A euchre party was staged for tire ■non-daneers and the prizes were won by Mesdames H. Vile and W. Rutherford, and Messrs. E. Stack and D. Kelly, „ .... .... The evening was a great success fitisneiaUy and was in every way a credit to those . responsible. ..for „its .arrangements.- •
