Mr E. J. MacDonald, Dannevirke, will judge tho dog trials at the Pahiatua A. and P, Association’s show on February 14th. Mr D. Howden, manager of the Bank of New Zealand, had tho misfortuno on Sunday to break a small bone in his ankle. The injury was sustained while he was stepping from a trailer caravan which was being outfitted for a camping trip. The accident necessitated cancellation of the proposed holiday tour and it will be all of three weeks before tho set of plaster -of paris can be removed.

Mrs E. T. Moran, of Wakeman street, suffered a broken rib when she fell in her home yesterday morning. The accident occurred when Mrs Moran turned in the dining-room to disconnect a radio set, she slipped on a mat and in falling struck her back on a corner of a cabinet —the break in the rib itself being close to the spine. After receiving medical attention, Mrs Moran was able to get about the house and it is hoped that within a day or so she will have fully recovered from the results of the accident.

The Pahiatua County Council will meet on Saturday next at 11 a.m.

The Pahiatua A. and P. Association will hold a ball on show night. The sub-committee, which made such a pronounced success of last year's function, are busy making the preliminary arrangements. ■
