Three Girls and a Boy

For what is believed to be the first time in the history of New Zealand, quadruplets—three girls and a boy—were born in tho Dunedin Public Hospital to-night. The event was knowu by tho doctors beforehand because, when the mother was admitted to hospital on February 25, an X-ray disclosed tlic position. Though the birth was six weeks premature, a doctor said it was a normal delivery and there was every prospect of the infants' survival. The boy was born first, weighing -ill'. lUoz. Then came girls weighing 41b. soz. and 31b. 150 z., and last one weighing 41b. 9oz. Mr. and Mrs. George Johnson, the proud parents, were married ten years ago and ulroady have two girls, aged u.glit and six, while five years ago they lost a baby boy three days old. The birth of a thrcc-headed Fijian child is reported from Komo Lau. Tlic child is not expected to live, but its mother is in good health.
