Glen Oroua
From Our Own Correspondent. Mr. A. T. MeMurtrie, senior Inspector of the Wanganui Education Hoard, paid a visit of inspection to the school Jast Tuesday, and expressed his appreciation of the school work and the ground improvements being carried out by the school committee. The school artesian well, tho flow of which had recently fallen away considerably, has been cleaned out and a marked improvement has resulted. Tho flow is now at the rate of over 1,000 gallons per hour. The following are tho weather records supplied by tho school for the montn of February:—Average barometric pressure, 29.33 inches; average temperature, 71.35 degrees; total rainfall, 4.71 inches; prevailing wind, easterly. Only a small amount of rain fell at the beginning of the month, while 4.33 inches were recorded during the last week. The Glen Oroua A tennis team played a match against Carnarvon A at Carnarvon last Saturday, but were beaten by 13 sets and 106 games to 11 sets and 93 games. Everything was done by tho home team to make tho afternoon a pleasant one and a most enjoyable time was spent. Mr. R. Prebble expressed the thanks of the visitors for the kindness received, Mr. Gibbons responding' far Carnarvon.
Mrs. H. J. Lancaster, who is an inmate of a Palmerston North hospital, is progressing favourably. Mr. Arthur Lancaster, who sustained a fractured leg some weeks ago is progressing well at home, though he will not be able to resume his usual activities for some considerable time.
A contingent of children from the local school will bo taking part in the District Schools’ sports at Feilding on Saturday.
