A.- «■» » j ■from Our Own Correspondent. School Picnic. a -ftf lua d picnic of the Clydesdale School was held on Friday March 1, at Johnston park, Feilding. The situation was a delightful one and a very enjoyable time was spent. The Oroua river was in great demand for swimming-, and lunehepa was partaken of under the grandstand and the athletic events were conducted in the oval. Messrs. Boniface Bros., Palmerston North, very kindly donated a cake for competition during the day and the winner was Miss L. Flavell. Mr. J. F. McKelvie, with his customary generosity, again supplied a copious supply of nuts and lollies for a scramble, an event eagerly looked forward to by the children. A special vote of thanks was passed to the Feilding Borough Council •fi>r the use of the park. The committee left no stone unturned to make the day a successful one and were greatfui for all help, and assistance received. The officials -for the day were as follows: Mr. J. W. Warren: judges, Messrs. Armitage, Gennills and Luxford; handicapped Miss L. Flavell. A great amount of credit i 3 due to Miss Flavell (head teaoher) for her energy and ability displayed in no uncertain manner during the day. Ice creams were available during, the day and this donation by the committee found great favour by ail. Members and intending members are reminded of the annual meeting of the local branch on Wednesday, March 13, when it is hoped a large attendance will be present. Hall Affairs, The annual meeting of the local hall committee is due shortly. It is hoped all residents will turn out in numbers and show their interest and welfare in their own organisation which is controlled by an elective committee, who has done very good work in the past and still continues to- give of its best for such a worthy cause.
