Dr. A. I l ’. Ritchie Crawford, of Invercargill, was elected president of tho National Rifle Association at the annual meeting of members at Trentham last night, 110 succeeds Colonel F. B. Creswell, who announced his retirement from that office.—Press Association.
Lord Nuffield, formerly Sir William Morris, welt known as a British motorear manufacturer, chairman of Morris Motors,. Ltd., Morris Industries, Ltd., and other allied British industries, was a passenger by the Monowai which arrived at Wellington from Sydney yesterday afternoon. Lord Nuffield is keenly interested in land development, and has expressed a desire to in sped somo of the Government's land development schemes. As his time is limited, ho will be able to make only a hurried visit through the North Island. He returns to Sydney, en route to London, by tho Monowai, from Auek land, on Friday next.
