From Our Own Correspondent. Ping Pong Dance. On Tuesday, night the TJtuwai hall was transformed into a kaleidoscopic haze of red and white ribbons and red balloons for tho occasion of the Mt. Richards ping pong dance. The walls were camouflaged by a mass of greenery through which crimson rhododendrons gleamed. On a while scroll at one end of the room were emblazoned the letters “M.R.” Beneatli this caption was a representation of a table tennis net, and two jet black replicas of ping pong bats and ball were vividly portrayed against the ivory background. It was fitting that the function should mark the conclusion of tho club’s activities for tho season. A comprehensive programme of modern and old-time dances, interspersed with lucky numbers, was arranged by tho committee and conducted by Mr. X,. Duffy as M.C. Mrs. Kearney, of Apiti, supplied tho music, whilst extras were played by. Miss J. Searle. Visitors from Umutoi and Kahero were present, and also representatives of the Pohangina and Apiti clubs. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss I. Roberts and Mr. L. Port. The winners of the lucky Gay Gordons were Miss E. Roberts and Mr. L. Pawson. Amongst those present were Misses I. Roberts, wearing torquoise blue crinkle crepe: R. I.ancaster, blue angel skin; B. Wingate, pink iloral voile; W. Wagstaff, lemon foam crepe; E. Roberts, iloral taffeta; E. Duffy, wine elephant crepe; M. Wingate, blue floral organdie; A. P.oberts, red panne velvet; M. Foote, blue floral silk voile; R. Hitchman, twilight silk; M. Ilarkness, flame satin; R. Duffy, blue crinkle crepe; D. Hemmings, black georgette; L. Osborne, black lace; D. McEwen, crimson silk; O. Hemmings, green velvet; r D. Cheyne, cream satin and cape; M. McEwen, cream silk. After supper had been served by the ping pong committee, dancing continued until a late hour.
