From Our Own Correspondent. Women's Institute. Colvton members of the W.l. spent a narlicularlv interesting afternoon together on Tuesday last, in the unavoidable absence of the president and vice-president, .Miss Pearce was elected to the chair. A motion of sympathy w.u extended to Mrs. Beatson (president n her recent sad bereavement, 'uc-n' ie s standing in silence. bl was . dne'ded to enter the W.l. class of the 1-eildun, How er show, Misses 11. J locket. C MacLeod and B. Jefferies being asked to take charge of the flowers. Members went asked lo leave flowers at the stoic on Tbursdav evening. The conipetiti m shortbread was won by Mrs. H'orsion with Mrs. N. Shortall second. Ms. Short and Mrs. McCorkindale both spoke very interestingly of institute work. It was decided lo have a roll call at ti e next meeting "What I have to exhibit » the court competition to be held at the Pending show." Members were reminded of the competition for a khustmab article costing Is or less. A most mteiemim' and useful demonstration was given by Mrs. Short on chain-covering and the making of humpties. Mis. . i tis, of Cheltenham, delighted Eobton members with songs. A vote of tbank. was accorded Mestlames Short. M<hoik indale and Curtis and to the hostesse. , Mrs! Aibery and Misses Burr. Adsett and Walker. Miss Pearce was in cliaigc oi the stall.
