SAVIDAN WINS TITLE FOR FIFTH TIME
NX Cross-country Race at Wanganui TEAMS EVENTS TO WEST COAST (N. 1.) Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Last Night. With the race always in hand, J. W. Savidan (Auckland) won the Now Zealand cross-country title for tho fifth timo on Saturday in a convincing manner. Although led by C. Weller (Wanganui) for a short distance, he left the 19-year-old runner after tho first two miles had been covered and gained a lead over the hilly country, the Aucklander returning to Spriggon’s Park to win the six and a-quartcr miles race by 120 yards from Weller, who was second. Filling four of tho first seven places, the West Coast (N. 1.) team won the teams’ Taco from the holders, Otago. The positions and times were:— J. Savidan (Auckland), 36min. 36sce. 1 C.
