Indian Floods Follow Abnormal Monsoon
THOUSANDS OF VILLAGES SUBMERGED United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. CALCUTTA, Aug. 25. Widespread floods, duo to four days’ incessant rain following an abnormally heavy monsoon, have occurred. The areas affected are Bengal, Assam, Orissa, the United Provinces and Punjab to the western coast. Rivers are swollen to a record height. Thousands of villages have been submerged and houses wrecked. Rail and telegraphic communication is affected.
