Auckland Flourmill Damaged by Fire
OUTBREAK CONFINED TO TOP FLOOR Per Press Association.' AUCKLAND, Last Night. Considerable damage was done by lire to-night in the oatmeal department of the Northern Roller Company’s mill in Port street. Fortunately tho brigade was able to confine the outbreak to the top floor, where it originated, but a largo quantity of water penetrated two floors below. The building is a threb-storeyed brick structure, with timber floors and an iron roof. The flro was discovered among the machinery on tho top floor, and when tho brigade arrived it had a strong hold. The firemen had a difficult task in tho smoke and darkness, but eventually got the fire under after the roof had been partially destroyed. The damage to tho milling machinery', which was made very largely of wood, could not bo estimated to-night. The insurances are: Building £6OOO, machinery £II,OOO, merchandise £2OO, A -
