WAHGAKUI TITLES On Monday evening, the 1933 Wanganui amateur boxing championships were docided. Tho standard of boxing displayed gave every reason to hope that that district will bo worthily represented at tho New Zoaland championships, which are to bo held at Blenheim eaTly in Septombor. Two of tho titles wero won by Palmerston North competitors and another by a Feildiug man. Results of the various bouts are as follow: Flyweight Division. V. Gordon (Patca) beat H. Nancarrow (Wanganui). Bantamweight Division. G. Gordon (Pater) beat A. Dcero (Wanganui). Featherweight Division. T. Wliatnough beat C. Trillo. O. Gibbons (Fcilding) beat J. O’Neill (Palmerston North). Final. T. Whatnough beat O. Gibbons. Lightweight Division. G. Thomas (Eltliam) beat J. Wilson (Marton). Semi-final. F. Hopkins (Palmerston North) beat J. Wilkie (Raetihi). Final. F. Hopkins beat G. Thomas. Welterweight Division. M. Candy (Palmerston North) beat A. Burke (Wanganui). Final. F. Hutchens (Eltham) beat M. Candy (Palmerston North). Middleweight Division, J. McMahon (Palmerston North) beat R. Nairn (Marton). Light-Heavyweight Division. R. Dawson (Wanganui) beat A. Scarrow (Raetihi). Semi-final. E. Nairn (Marton) beat C. Quinlan (Wanganui). Filial. R- Nairn beat R. Dawson, Heavyweight Division. E. Dillon (Taihapc) beat D. Herman (Wanganui). Final. J. Adams (Feilding) won from 23. Dillon (Taihapo). Mr. Corrigan’s trophy for the best loser was awarded to R.- Dawson, of Wanganui, The evening’s sport was marred somewhat by E. Dillon collapsing in the final of the heavyweight contest and being taken to the hospital in a serious condition.
