St. Pat's Annua! Ball Has Gratifying Success
Tho spacious Do Luxe hall presented a scene of much gaiety last ovoning when well over 350 patrons assembled thoro for tho annual ball of St. Patrick’s Football Club. The optimism of tho officials in staging a big affair for their annual effort was well justified, and last night’s function must go down as one of the brigkost of this season’s activities. Twinkling coloured lights outlined the windows, with green, the club’s colour, predominating, and streamers and gracoful greenery in tall stands combined to make an effective decoration. The latest dance numbers wero provided by an excellent orchestra and music for extra dances was contributed by Miss Lampard and Mr Eonberg. Novelty dances added further interest and the evening passed all too quickly under tho capable control of Messrs E. J. Stone and T. E. Davidson, who were tho masters of ceremonies. A bountiful sit-down supper was served under tho supervision of a ladies’ committee comprising Mrs Stono, who wore black chenille and georgette; Mrs Ferguson, in navy georgette; Mrs Tottman, golden brown georgotte, and Mrs Burke, in black georgette. Mr J. J. O’Shea, the club’s popular president, was in attendance, also other club officials, representatives of Kia Toa and Old Boys’ Clubs; Mr A. M. Ongloy, life member of the Manawatu Bugby Union; Mr J. White, secretary of the Eugby Union; and Mr L. Cope, representing the Eefcrees’ Association. The committee responsible for this most successful effort waß as follows: The president, Messrs E. J. Stone (hon. secretary), T. E. Davidson, J. Delaney, F. Spelman, T. Madgwick, P. Quigan. P. Ferguson and N. Bush.
