SILVEEHOPE Mrs Aldworth presided at the last meeting, when notico was givon of an afternoon to be'held in the Scots Hall, Hunterville, in * conjunction with the Poukiore Institute and the Huntervillc branch of the W.D.F.U., for the sale of work of tho Auckland . Institute for tho Blind. Mrs Millen, president of the Wanganui Federation, was present, and gavo a good account of the Dominion conference, for which she was accorded a hearty voto of thanks. Mrs Goodall, of Bulls, gavo a short address on gardening, and answered questions. The president then spoke a few words of. farewell to Mrs Ellery, a much-valued momber, and asked her to accept with all good wishes gifts for herself and her small daughter. Tho competitions wore foT special bulbs (tho prize donated by Mr Goodall) and the best shortbread. KIMBOLTON There was a very good attendance of members at the August meeting of the Kimbolton W. 1., held in the Town Hall on Wodnosday last. One new member was enrolled and welcomed. Visitors from other institutes were also warmly welcomed. Mrs Barnicoat gave a very interesting and detailed account of the two days' conference held in Christchurch, for which she was accorded a hearty voto of thanks. Two very instructive demonstrations were given during the afternoon, Mesdames Shapleski and E. Board demonstrating respectively on the. making of eiderdown quilts and lamp shades. The competition winners were: Fancy-work, Miss M. Beard; bowl of violets, Mrs Scott; best-darned sock, Miss E. Dorward. A very satisfactory amount was collected from the bring-and-buy stall for federation funds. Arrangements were finalised for the holding of a “Gipsy” dance, to bo held in the hall on September 8, in aid of federation institute funds. An onjoyable afternoon closed with votes of thanks to the hostesses, Mesdames Haythorae and Marshall and Misses Lawson and Neilson, and to the demonstrators.
