Ohakea
From Our Own Correspondent. On Friday evening the Sanson Rifle Club journeyed to Ohakea to defend the McKelvio cup which they held. The Ohakea team sprang a surprise by defeating the holders by 15 points. Both P. Ellery and J Simpson registered double possibles for Ohakea and. H. Ellery, E. Simpson, G. Wiggins and H. Hill scored possibles. For Sanson F. Lumsden scored a possible. The following were the scores:— Sanson: K. Lumsden 69, 69—135; F. Lumsden 70, 68—138; Keith Lumsden 69, GS—l37; R. Lumsden 69. 68—137; K. Pearce 68, 69 —137; F. Tostevin 67, 69 — 136; A. K. Drew 68, 67—135; H. McKegney 65, 65—130. Totals, 545, 543—1088.
Ohakea: P. Ellery 70, 70—140; J. Simpcon 70, 70—140; Hi Ellery 69, 70—133! E.
Simpson 70, 69—139; G. Wiggins CS, 70 — 138; H .Hill, 68, 70—138; F. Simpson, 68, 69—137; W. Klatt 67, 65—132. Totals 550, 553—1103. At the conclusion of supper, Mr. F. Tostevin presented the cup to the Ohakea team and congratulated them on their fine shooting. Mr. H. Ellery, in replying, said that they were pleased to have struck form at last and would do their best to defend the trophy now they had won it
