From Our Own Correspondent. The ladles of the Rangltikei Golf Club commence the first round of toe club championship to-day, August 22, and all games are to bo played off in divisions. The second round draw will - be made later. Well-known Maori’s Death, ICereopa' Rewit!,' one of the best known Maoris ■in Rangitlkei, died at Ratana Pa on Wednesday. Deceased who was (L years of.ago was born at Bulls, being toe youngest son’ of the late Hare Rewiti. He was a: splendid- type of Maori, and was of magnificent physique. He married Anikanara, daughter of the late John Gotty (or Goethe, the son of a German baron) and there are three sons Hare, Pita and Rangi and one daughter Wikitoria, Mrs Toatoa, of the marriage, Kereopa, who had lived alone at. his pionerty near the Bulls bridge since tho death of his wife some years ago, was chief of the Ngati-Parewahawaha tube who are a sub tribe of the Ngati-lUu-kawas. In his early days Kereopa was a keen farmer and orchardist, being possessed of one of the finest peach groves in the district. He had been in veiy l different health of late and was on a visit to his daughter at Ratana la, when he was taken ill and died. Tcririis Club Ball. The Bulls Tennis Club’s annual ball takes place In the Town hall, Bubs, on Tuesday, August 22. The function promises to'be a'-brilliant one and every effort is being made to provide for the wants' of the many visitors expected. Music is to be provided by a leading Palmerston North orchestra and supper arrangements will also bo of the best. Particulars are advertised in the limes.
