Dempster’s Double Century Saves City Debacle

Country criekot match ended in a draw, lu reply to Country's total of 433 Town to-day responded with 304. J. Newman, the Nelson left-hander, bowled so ably that live wickets were down for 104, but Dempster then stepped into the breach and played a masterly innings for 207 which included 33 boundaries. His was the last wicket to fall. Newman put up an outstanding bowling performance, sending down 47 overs , fourteen of which were maidens for live wickets and 36 runs.
