The hall was crowded out, visitors being present from ail parts of the surrounding district. The music was supplied by Mr. Mattar (Poston) at the piano and Mr. O. Hemmingsen (Shannon) violin and extras were provided by Mrs. LL. Easton, Mrs. C. Easton and Miss Jamieson. The position of M.C. was Idled by Messrs. 1\ Colo and JD. Richards, who kept tilings moving. As midnight sounded, the crowded gathered in the centre of the hall and sang “Auld Lang Syne,” after which proceedings became very merry, confetti and squeakers being much in evidence. A male voice choir provided songs in between the dances, which provided an abundance of humour to the* onlookers. At one o’clock the danco was supposed to finish, but the crowd refused to disperse and a collection was promptly taken up to keep the dance going, it eventually closing at 2 a.m. Two competition dances were held. Mr. Thomas and Miss Harris winning the spot, and Mr. Stokes and Miss 1. Inglcy winning tlio Monte Carlo. BOWLING. The second round of the Triangular Shield competition will bo played at Shannon on Wednesday next. Shannon must supply four rinks, but owing to the- reduced membership may have some trouble in doing so.
