MANAWATU SUMMEB TOUBNEY Tho Manawatu Golf Club was rather unfortunato in its choice of weather for the concluding days of its summer tourney, played on tho Hokowhitu course on Saturday and yesterday. The gale that raged throughout the district yesterday swept across tho courso in almost hurrieano force and nmdo good golf impossible. The greens and fairways were in their usual excellent condition, and fast. Scores were: — MANAWATU HANDICAP Second Bound Mrs. Field, Manawatu (17), beat H. C. Stern, Shannon (10). D. Taterc, Dannevirko (19), beat Miss Currie, Wanganui (10). T. Pain, Palmerston North (10), boat E. B. Chapman, Manawatu (7). W. C. Stern, Shannon (7) beat F Haven, Manawatu (10). Semi-finals Taterc beat Mrs. Field 2 and 1. Stern beat Pain 1 up. Final Tatero beat Stern 0 and 5. HOKOWHITU HANDICAP Second Bound A. Strange, Palmerston North (24) boat P. Stockwell, Palmerston North (20). D. J. Lovelock, Palmerston North (24) won from Miss B. Woodward, Manawatu (30), by default. J. K. McManus, Manawatu (24) beat E. Simpson, Palmerston North (24). N. Currie, Palmerston Nortli (24), beat Miss M. Kearins, Manawatu (25). Semi-finals Strange beat Lovelock 2 and 1. Currie beat McManus 4 and 2. Final Currie beat Strange 4 and 3. CONSOLATION HANDICAP Second Bound P. O’Shea, Manawatu (24), heat T. B. Arlidge, Palmerston North (24). Miss Wanklyn (20), a bye. Final Miss Wanklyn beat O’Shea. On Saturday morning a bogey competition resulted in a win for D. Taterc (Dannevirko), 3 up. T. Pain (Palmerston North) was all square, D. O. "Williams (Manawatu) 1 down, and T. Louisson (Manawatu) 1 down. In the afternoon four-ball bogey there was a tio between H. Palmer and F. Swindell, and C. G. Moore and Miss Guy. Yesterday afternoon was devoted to Canadian foursomes, the list being headed by Chapman and Miss Keanus’, 09 9 00. Palmer and Swindell were next with 71—9—62.
