There was pleasant weather and a good wicket for the resumption of the Africa-Australia test match. Viljoeu showed splendid form from the outset. There was great excitement when the batsmen ran a six, including two for the overthrow, and the next bail was driven to the fence, botli strokes being by Viljocn off Ironmonger. The third century -was brought up after 409 minutes’ play. Viljocn reached his century amid enthusiasm in 193 minutes. This is the first century in the tests made by any of the visitors on this, tour. Viljocn was caught in the slips after a chaneelcss and valuable innings lasting 205 minutes. lie hit nine boundaries and added 46 in 75 minutes. First ball after lunch McMillan was well caught at short stop. Ho batted tw'o hours but rendered excellent service by holding his wicket up for Viljocn. The last wicket added 22 in 38 minutes by Bell and Quinn who made their highest scores of tho tour, i Tho bowling was uniformly good but tho batsmen showed more confidence. In opening Australia’s second innings Ponsford showed splendid form, his partnership with Woodfull realising 51 runs. Ponsford batted for 55 minutes and hit two fours. Woodfull was solid as usual while Bradman gave a, free display although tho bowling was of a high standard. Tho century was reached in 92 minutes, the last 50 in 38 minutes. Woodfull then opened out and kept pace with his partner for sonio time. Tho century hit up by tho partnership was scored in 74 minutes and the deficit wiped out in 134 minutes as a result of most exhilirating batting, Bradman making many powerful drives and pulls. Bradman mudo a great race for his century, creating wild enthusiasm. He batted for 98 minutes and hit ten fours. Woodfull batted for 154 minutes and hit two fours.
