U.S. Builds Miniature Battleships
AND 361-KNOT DESTROYERS.
United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph. —Copyright. Received .Sunday, 7.35 p.m. WASHINGTON, Jan. 3. The Navy Department announces that the criticised treaty cruisers will bu radically changed into miniature battleships stronger than any cruisers in the world except the Deutschaland pocket battleships. Anti-rolling tanks will be 1 imailed, the bilge keels lengthened, the centre of gravity raised and protection increased by the installation of heavier armour particularly above decks. Among other innovations and improvements ju forthcoming vessels is the notably increased speed of the new destroyers to 36J knots.
