Foxton Talkies
What “All Quiet on the Western Front" was to the armies in tho late war, “The Seas Beneath” is to the competing navies. This remarkable romance of submarine warfare, created by John Ford for Fox Movietone, is at the Foxton talkies to-night and skilfully combines a unique love story with a breathless and graphic portrayal of the Allied struggle against the Üboats. Opening with the departure of a determined little flotilla from New York for the Canaries with a certain German submarine as its objective, developing its strange and sympathetic romanco at tho spy-ridden port of Santa Uruz, and ending in a terrific and marvellously photographed naval battle between tho giant U-boat on one side and an American submarine and a “mystery ship" on tho other, “The -Seas Beneath” is truly an opie of maritime history. Especially notable performances are given by George O’Brien and Marion Lessing in the leading roles.
