Church Services
Owing to the absence of the minis ter, Pastor C. G. H. Bycroft, tho pulpitat Emmanuel Congregational Church, Broadway, to-morrow, will be occupies by Messrs Cox and Allan. Mr. Cox will conduct the morning service and Sir. Allan, the evening. As this will be the first Sunday of 1932, a special invitation is extended to visitors and strangers to worship at the Congregational Church. Services appropriate to tho opening of the New Year will bo bold in the Cuba street Methodist Church to-mor-row, the minister, Rev. J. D. McArthur, officiating. At tho close of tho evening servico the sacrament of tho Loicis Supper will be administered. Mr. McArthur will preach at Longburu Church at 2.30, and here, too, the sacrament will be administered. A special invitation is extended to citizens and visitois to worship with us. You cannot make a better commencement on the New Year than by honouring God in His House. If you have no church home, make ours yours.
New Year services will be held at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Broadway avenue, to-morrow. The preacher both morning and evening will be the minister of the church, Rev. J. Ernest Parsons. At tho morning service the sermon subject will be “The Ministry of the Backward Look.” To the children a talk on “The Guides’ Race” will be given. In the evening the subject will bo “How to Walk in the New Year.” At the close of this service the first communion for tiro New Year will be observed. Mr. Parsons will also preach at Aok-autcre in the afternoon at two o’clock. At 5.30 p.m. ho will conduct a service at the public hospital. Visitors and newcomers to Palmerston North will find tho services at St. Paul’s a good beginning for the New Year. Rev. G. T. Brown, M.A., will conduct special New Y r car services in St. Andrew’s Church to-iuorrow both morning and evening. In tho morning ho will have a messago of cheer entitled “The Voico from tho Cloud,” and in tho evening ho will deal with “Two Attitudes to tho Future.”
Of the 180,0-00 full-time employees of the British Post Office about 120,000 receive less than £3 a week.
