Pipes Carry Water 350 Miles to Miners

PEKTII, W. Aust. Supplying water to goldfields 350 miles away is tho remarkable engineering feat embodied in the Mundaring Weir, situated some 51 miles from Perth. This weir has been a boon to hundreds of pioneers and prospectors in the palmy days of the West Australian goldfields, and since then to tho agricultural areas opening up around them. Tho great dam, rising 100 feet above the river bed, incloses a reservoir with a capacity of 4,050,000,000 gallons. The dam is 755 feet long and 85 feet thick at the bottom. The daily average of water drawn off during 1028-29 was 4,000,000 gallons.
